Former President Donald Trump on Friday released a statement after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, returning abortion legislation to the states.
"Today's decision, which is the biggest WIN for LIFE in a generation, along with other decisions that have been announced recently, were only made possible because I delivered everything as promised, including nominating and getting three highly respected and strong Constitutionalists confirmed to the United States Supreme Court. It was my great honor to do so!" Trump said.
"I did not cave to the Radical Left Democrats, their partners in the Fake News Media, or the RINOs who are likewise the true, but silent, enemy of the people. These major Victories prove that even though the Radical Left is doing everything in their power to destroy our Country, your Rights are being protected, the Country is being defended, and there is still hope and time to Save America! I will never stop fighting for the Great People of our Nation!"
The Supreme Court ruled on Friday.
"The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives," the decision penned by Justice Alito reads.
President Joe Biden spoke against the ruling, saying that the Court "took away the constitutional right from the American people that it had already recognized. It didn't limit it," he said, "they simply took it away."
However, according to the court, that right was never extant.
An additional ruling was released on Thursday that overturned bans on the ability of citizens to obtain gun permits for concealed carry outside their homes. This was penned by Justice Clarence Thomas, and stated that:
"The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not 'a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees.'"
"The exercise of other constitutional rights does not require individuals to demonstrate to government officers some special need. The Second Amendment right to carry arms in public for self-defense is no different. New York's proper-cause requirement violates the Fourteenth Amendment by preventing law-abiding citizens with ordinary self-defense needs from exercising their right to keep and bear arms in public," the opinion further read.
