Thousands of protestors gathered in downtown Toronto at the corner of Yonge and Bloor to express their anger and anguish over the death of George Floyd.
Chanting slogans like "Black Lives Matter" and "I can't breathe" as they made their way past boarded up businesses in Toronto's busiest neighbourhood.
Second-degree murder charges have been laid against Derek Chauvin, the officer who was caught on video forcefully detaining Floyd against the ground. Three other officers have also been charged.
Toronto Mayor John Tory, who has been very vocal about Toronto residents following social distancing and stay-home restrictions, had previously asked protestors to maintain social distancing protocols.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
