BREAKING: Psaki says no predictions on timeline for Canada-US border re-opening

"I don't have anything to predict on the timeline," said Psaki.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Tuesday that a decision regarding the Canada-US border's re-opening has not yet been made, and that there are still currently no predictions on a timeline.

"We would make a decision on the Canada border based on our guidance of our medical and health experts," said Psaki, "and I'm sure that once that decision is made, we would communicate through our diplomatic channels, but I don't have anything to predict on the timeline."

The latest we've heard from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the topic also does not paint a perfectly clear picture.

Trudeau said that the border would "likely" be reopened in stages, with travellers entering Canada needing to be fully vaccinated.

Trudeau has said directly that Canadians could expect to have a "one-dose summer," which would eventually lead to a "two-dose fall."

While more Canadians have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine per capita than their neighbours to the south, the great white north trails the US in fully vaccinated citizens, with Canada having fully vaccinated just 5.71 percent of its population compared to the US, whose rate is nearly six times higher.
