They deemed the events to be "a comprehensive failure that disenfranchises Arizonans and exemplifies why Republican-led efforts for transparency at the ballot box are so important."

Pinal County, Arizona has come under scrutiny for mistakes election officials made in the lead up to Tuesday's state primaries.

On Tuesday, the Republican National Committee and the Republican Party of Arizona released a joint statement slamming the county for its failures.

"During Arizona's primary elections," the statement began, "the RNC and Republican Party of Arizona's poll observer program documented and reported failures by Pinal County's Election Administrator, including 63,000 mail-in ballots delivered to the wrong voters and multiple Republican-heavy precinct locations running out of ballots."

They went on to deem the events to be "a comprehensive failure that disenfranchises Arizonans and exemplifies why Republican-led efforts for transparency at the ballot box are so important."

The statement concluded by calling on Pinal County Elections Director David Frisk to "resign immediately."

According to KOLD, the county recently admitted that they had sent out over 60,000 ballots that either failed to include some races, or included the wrong races. To remedy the situation, an additional set of ballots were sent out, meaning many Arizonans will have to fill out both.

"The only thing we can do at this point is to own up to the mistake we made and do everything we can to correct that error," county attorney Kent Volkmer said, acknowledging that despite their best intentions, not all voters will understand what's going on.

The county noted that the voting machines would be programmed to know which races on which ballots were supposed to be read, adding that separate machines would be used to count the aforementioned second ballots.

In recent years, Republicans across the country have called for more transparency when it comes to elections to ensure that all legitimate votes are counted and proceedings are free from corruption.
