The Senate approved a bill on Thursday to deliver $40 billion in aid to Ukraine to help that nation fight Russia after they invaded the neighboring country in February.
All but 11 members of the GOP voted in favor of the package. Those who declined to send $40 billion to fight a proxy war with Russia in Eastern Europe were Senators Blackburn, Boozman, Braun, Crapo, Hagterty, Hawley, Lee, Lummis, Marshall, Paul and Tuberville.
The aid package has been pushed by the Biden administration as necessary to help Ukraine keep its borders secure and maintain its sovereignty. Those who oppose the bill claim that there's absolutely no interest for the US to defend by sending masses of weapons to Ukraine.
As a result of the incursion by Russia into Ukraine, NATO may be expanded. Leaders of both Finland and Sweden met with President Biden at the White House Thursday morning to express their interest in jointing the treaty.
Biden would approve their admission to the treaty.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
