On Monday, Senators David Perdue (R-Ga.) and Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) called for Georgia's Republican Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger to resign. The Senators say Raffensperger failed to deliver "honest and transparent" elections, The Hill reports.
The Senators released a joint statement that said Georgia's elections were "an embarrassment" and the 2020 general elections shed a light on problems.
"We believe when there are failures, they need to be called out – even when it's in your own party," Perdue and Loeffler said.
Perdue and Loeffler head to runoff elections in January, with both needing Trump's base to support them.
Both Senators stated that "the mismanagement and lack of transparency from the Secretary of State is unacceptable."
"Honest elections are paramount to the foundation of our democracy. The Secretary of State has failed to deliver honest and transparent elections. He has failed the people of Georgia, and he should step down immediately."
The current vote count in Georgia shows Joe Biden with almost 11,000 votes more than President Trump.
