A person of interest has been arrested following the death of Temple police officer who was shot and killed on Saturday while trying to prevent a carjacking. Sources identify him as Miles Pfeffer.

The 18-year-old male was arrested by US Marshals in Buckingham Township, in Bucks County, Penn. He has since been transferred back to Philadelphia by police, the Inquirer reports.

Pfeffer in November posted a photo of himself with a fan of bills and the caption "Work smart not hard make stupid decisions face stupid consquences."

Christopher David Fitzgerald, 31, was identified as the victim in the shooting, which happened near 17th Street and Montgomery Avenue.

Temple University Police Association put out a statement, saying "We can confirm that a suspect has been taken into custody for the murder of one of our police officers. We are told that the arrest was made using our fallen officers handcuffs."

Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said that the officer was killed while he "tried to intervene in a carjacking." Temple said this was the first time an officer had been killed while on duty, and Temple president Jason Wingard said "We are heartbroken tonight."

Firtzgerald is the son of long-time Philadelphia Police Department vet Joel Fitzgerald, who spent 17 years on the force.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
