"Provinces and territories are facing different realities, so flexibility will be important, but here's the bottom line: For seniors and people who need extra support, for kids and workers. This plan is here for you," said Trudeau.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed media on Friday to provide updates on the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada.

Trudeau started by announcing that Canadians with disabilities who are eligible would be receiving a one-time, non-taxable cheque for $600. Trudeau also announced that five new projects would be launched to help those who disabilities find work and get supportive devices.

In terms of reopening the economy, Trudeau said that he's offered $14 billion to help provinces reboot. A large sum of that funding would go into helping child care centres reopen, PPE, sick days for workers, seniors, and additional support for municipalities in need.

"Provinces and territories are facing different realities, so flexibility will be important, but here's the bottom line: For seniors and people who need extra support, for kids and workers. This plan is here for you," said Trudeau.

"With this safe restart agreement, we're proposing a standard of support to keep every Canadian, right across the country, safe and healthy as we get our country back on their feet."

"Whether it's buying PPE, or covering the cost of support workers, many Canadians with disabilities are facing unexpected bills that can be hard to pay," he continued.

Regarding systemic racism and changes in policing, Trudeau said that there were many factors in taking on "systemic challenges," saying that gradual progress has been made.

"We need to make stronger and bigger changes," said Trudeau. "When we look at systemic racism... On the individual situations over the past number of weeks, obviously there needs to be careful and full investigations into those situations.

Trudeau again would not say whether or not Canada would be committing to banning Huawei 5G technology, as all other Five Eyes countries have done.
