Justin Trudeau addressed media today outside Rideau Hall to give information on the new Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) program.
Trudeau touted the list of benefits that his government has implemented in the face of the pandemic, including the new Canada Emergency Business Account.
CEBA allows Canadians to receive a $40,000 interest-free loan through banks or credit unions, that if repaid within two years, up to $10,000 is forgivable.
Trudeau says the funds would take only a few days to be received into Canadians accounts, that can be used for monthly expenses or paying employees.
Trudeau said his government is working with opposition parties to pass the "largest economic measures Canada has seen since World War II," with the House rejoining tomorrow. Trudeau said he would be speaking at the House of Commons rather than giving his daily address from Ottawa.
Trudeau also announced that he believed the Emergency Measures Act was not necessary for the time being, and hoped the government would not need to enact it.
Trudeau also announced that he would be taking some personal time off with his wife Sophie and his children, on Easter Sunday and Monday.
