Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was heckled by Indigenous protestors during his visit to Kamloops, BC.
On Monday, Trudeau was in Kamloops to attend a ceremony marking the anniversary of the discovery of hundreds of suspected unmarked graves on the site of a former residential school.
At one point after the event, Trudeau was greeted by protestors, who had less than favourable things to say to him.
Video shows Trudeau exiting the powwow arbor, surrounded by a crowd of people including journalists, security, and protestors.
As he passes the protestors, a man repeatedly shouts, "Take your disrespect out of our tribe!" while others play traditional drums and sing.

Instead of addressing the criticism, Trudeau simply ignores it, choosing instead to walk right past, stopping only to take a selfie with someone.

Another video shows Indigenous protestors heckling Trudeau during his speech. One shouts, "Where is our apology?" and another says, simply, "You're fake!"
Trudeau's visit was a long time coming, but for some it was too little too late. The prime minister infamously ditched Kamloops' invitation to attend the first ever Truth and Reconciliation Day ceremonies in 2021, choosing instead to go surfing in Tofino.

Though he did apologize, it was not enough for some. Kamloops' Chief Casimir criticized Trudeau to his face, describing the palpable "shock, anger, sorrow, and disbelief that was felt" as a result of the prime minister's decision to go surfing.

My message to Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc today was simple: I hear you. We’re here for you.
