Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed media from Rideau Hall on Monday, providing updates on the federal government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trudeau started by saying that his government was "working on a solution" to extend the Canada Emergency Relief Benefit (CERB) for people who aren't yet able to return to work. "We’ll have more details this week, but for today, I want you to know that we will continue to be there for you and your family," the prime minister said.
“If you’re having troubles finding a job, you shouldn’t also be worrying about whether you’ll hit the limit of your CERB benefits,” said @JustinTrudeau. “We’re working on a solution to extend the benefit for people who can’t return to work yet.” pic.twitter.com/bBTGQFm75s

Trudeau went on to say that the new application process for the Canada Emergency Business Account would be available to the public starting Friday.
Trudeau also announced that Canada would be giving humanitarian support at the United Nation's request.
"This pandemic is a global crisis, and it requires global solutions. So in response to a request from the United Nations, I can also announce that Canada will provide airlift support for urgently needed medical and humanitarian supplies," said Trudeau. "Through this mission, we will be delivering help to some of the world's most vulnerable people."
When asked by PostMedia's Brian Lilley about the possibility of changing the name of the Laurier Club, the Liberal Party's primary fundraising club, Trudeau said that conversations would need to "continue" as to whether or not the name should be changed.
"Obviously there are many conversations going on," said Trudeau. "Those conversations are going to be important and need to continue."
When asked how far back history would need to be reviewed, Trudeau called it a "sign of progress" that society has improved over the centuries.

"We know there will be a range of views," said Trudeau. "We need to listen carefully and with a lot of sensitivity... for future generations," the prime minister said.
