Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has tested positive for COVID-19 following a week of travel and meetings with other government officials.
He made the announcement via Twitter.
"I've tested positive for COVID-19," he wrote Monday morning, adding that he would be isolating as per Health Canada guidelines.
"I feel okay," he said, "but that’s because I got my shots. So, if you haven’t, get vaccinated - and if you can, get boosted. Let’s protect our healthcare system, each other, and ourselves."
Last week, the prime minister attended the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, and appeared unmasked alongside countless other politicians and government officials from across the western hemisphere including US president Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
At the time of writing, nobody Trudeau came in contact with has announced a positive test result.
This is not the first time Trudeau has had COVID-19. He previously tested positive in late January, just before the Freedom Convoy arrived in Ottawa.
