Prime Minister Justin Trudeau would not commit to not triggering an election before the majority of Canadians are vaccinated.

"We want to continue to deliver vaccines to Canadians," said Trudeau. "The priority that all Canadians have right now is getting through this pandemic, and that's what we're focused on."

Trudeau said that there's been "unanimous consent" on "many of the measures" brought forward by the Liberals.

When asked to do so on Tuesday, Trudeau refused to make a clear commitment to refrain from triggering an election without the majority of Canadians being vaccinated.

"My commitment is to doing whatever is necessary to support Canadians through this pandemic," said Trudeau. "We will continue to be there for businesses, and communities across the country."

Trudeau also said that he did not specifically ask cabinet ministers if they were ready to continue with the team and run in the next election.

"We don't want an election. We need to continue to work hard and focus on Canadians," said the prime minister.
