Former President Donald Trump arrived at the courthouse in New York State on Tuesday, where he is facing 34 charges. He is set to appear before Juan Merchan, the same judge who presided over the closely watched criminal tax fraud case against Trump's company, at 2:15 pm.

The former president was seen waving to supporters as he walked to the courthouse to face arraignment for what many are saying is a political prosecution.

The exact charges against Trump remain unknown until the indictment is unsealed, which is likely to happen at the arraignment hearing.

As Trump was entering the courtroom, he did not stop to take questions from reporters posted up outside of the room.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said yesterday that though no credible threats of violence among protestors were reported, officials have been sending memos that violent protests could break out.

A number of popular Republican figures have shown up to support the former president. Among them was Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who joined the New York Young Republicans Club to protest of the indictment.

Addressing the crowd as police officers push back protestors and media members crowding the stage, Greene told the crowd she came to New York City to "peacefully protest against the persecution of an innocent man."

After the hearing, Trump plans to fly back to Florida for a speech, after having raised $7 million in fundraising off of the indictment news, his team says.

Trump has hired Todd Blanche, a top white-collar criminal defense lawyer and former federal prosecutor, to lead his legal defense team. Also on the team is Joe Tacopina.

Blanche spent more than eight years as a federal prosecutor with the Southern District of New York, where he handled cases related to public corruption, fraud, and violent crime. More recently, he worked as a partner at the top-flight New York firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, from which he resigned this month in order to represent Trump.
