Twitter flagged a tweet from President Donald Trump's account early Wednesday morning accusing the Democrats of attempting to steal the election during Tuesday's election.
"We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the Election. We will never let them do it. Votes cannot be cast after the Polls are closed!" Tweeted Trump, a tweet which was later labeled by Twitter.
An explanation from the tech giant said the president was making "a potentially misleading claim" about the election, and that their action was "in line with [Twitter's] Civic Integrity Policy."
Other tweets from Trump's camp were also censored, including one where the president declared victory in South Carolina.
Twitter's fact-checking system marked the tweet with a label that said that "official sources may not have called the race" when the account published the tweet.
The tweet was published at 8:07 pm EST, 10 minutes after the Associated Press tweeted that the the Palmetto State announced that the incumbent had won.
