Rock legend Morrissey showed support for the Canadian truckers and their Freedom Convoy on Monday when he posted on his website a video showing protestors entering the city of Ottawa on horseback.

The clip of the men and women on horseback was accompanied by a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in which he said "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

Morrissey has long been a defender of the working class. As regards Brexit, about which so many posh stars were not only opposed but mockingly so, Morrissey spoke in favor of the right of the British people to choose sovereignty. He said at the time that "I am shocked at the refusal of the British media to be fair and accept the people’s final decision just because the result of the referendum did not benefit the establishment."

He's been slammed for his unapologetic views, with charges leveled against him by fans who cling to their own leftwing indoctrination. These critiques eventually land on simply calling Morrissey racist. But this unwoke popstar can see through that haze.

"If you call someone racist in modern Britain," Morrissey said, "you are telling them that you have run out of words. You are shutting the debate down and running off. The word is meaningless now."

Morrissey is one of the few stars to back the truckers. While American conservative politicians sing the praises of this movement that demands that freedom and liberty be restored to Canadians, many others have remained silent. Canadian stars like Drake and Alanis Morissette have said nothing. Justin Bieber, who sports iconic trucker hats, has not issued one word about the truckers, or the mandates, in his native land.

Canadian truckers began their Freedom Convoy more than a week ago, with big rigs driving across the country to park themselves in Ottawa, Ont., and protest Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's vaccine mandates for those in the industry. Trudeau has refused to back down, calling the truckers white supremacists, terrorists, and all manner of bad names with which Morrissey is undoubtedly familiar.

Like Morrissey, the truckers have been unphased by these derogatory comments made by the elected leaders that are supposed to represent them and their interests.
