Investigators in two separate Pennsylvania counties, where murder suspect Bryan Kohberger attended school, are now sifting through their cold cases files to see if there might be any link between them and the Idaho college murders that took place in November 2022.
Kohberger, 28, is the prime suspect in the murder of four Idaho college students, Ethan Chapin, Maddie Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, and Xana Kernodle, all of whom were killed in their off-campus home on Kings Road, located in Moscow, Idaho.
Previously authorities have said that Kohberger did not have a previous criminal record, but Pennsylvania authorities in at least two counties are now looking into other cases that could be connected, according to the Daily Mail.
Terence Houck, the Northampton County District Attorney, said: “Your natural question is to start wondering, ‘Is this guy wanted?’” Houck went to request that his team research whether Kohberger’s method of alleged murder in Idaho matched the descriptions of cold cases in his Pennsylvania county, asking questions such as “Is his name out there?” and “Did he do anything here in (my) county?”
Kohberger was reportedly a student at Northampton Community College, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and investigators have decided to delve into the records to see if they can find anything.
The Daily Mail reported that Kohberger may have also attended classes at a satellite campus in Monroe County. Despite the research team searching records that would match Kohberger’s “height, weight, and method of operation,” nothing has yet linked him to criminal cases in the state.
Houck said: “In fact, nothing with respect to Kohberger has come about in our investigations of cold cases or unsolved cases to this point, but we always continue to investigate and pursue leads.”
In Lehigh County, Kohberger spent four years studying criminology at DeSales University, and District Attorney Jim Martin started to have the same thoughts as Houck. However, the only information that came back on Kohberger in the county was a single 911 call where his car was apparently locked behind a gate on a bike trail. Kohberger thanked the police and apologized for the inconvenience, per the report.
Other than this, there have not yet been any ties between Kohberger and unsolved cases in the two Pennsylvania counties.
However, the New York Post reported in late December 2022 that Kohberger was reported to have harassed women in a Pennsylvania brewery called Seven Sirens Brewing Company. It is there where he would ask female employees what they did there and where they lived, with the owner suggesting that Kohberger would “get upset with them a little bit” if they did not answer his questions.
After Kohberger was arrested in Idaho, the authorities apparently found several images of one of the female victims in the case. Kohberger is also thought to have been behind the Reddit account InsideLooking and Facebook account Pappa Rodgers, both of which made ominous speculations about the Idaho murders that turned out to be true, even before the information was made widely available to the public.
