Calgary police are searching for the mother of a baby girl that was abandoned in Ogden, located on the southeast side of Calgary, reports CTV News.
Officers responded to the scene on Thursday shortly after 5 p.m. in an alleyway close to 76th Avenue S.E. and Ogmoor Crescent S.E. after receiving a call from someone who saw the child while walking their dog.
The girl, who was just days old, was in a box with a blanket in the alleyway. She was transported to the hospital and is now in stable condition.
Very little is known about the situation so far and police are not sure how long the baby was abandoned for.
Police are actively looking for the mother of the child and are concerned for her well being. If anyone has information on the incident they are asked to call the Calgary Police Service on their non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
Information can also be given anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.calgarycrimestoppers.org.
