The question asked the high school students to identify "A group of complete idiots," then gave "KKK," "all of Florida," "Fox News," and "Texans" as responses in the multiple-choice quiz.

A high school principal is promising disciplinary action after a controversial history quiz generated accusations that it targeted conservative students by suggesting that "A group of complete idiots" are either Ku Klux Klan members, Florida residents, Fox News personnel, or Texans in the mutiple-choice test.

One student taking the history quiz in a class at Whitney High School in Rocklin, California, took a screenshot of one of the questions on the quiz, which read:

Question 7 (1 point)
A group of complete idiots

a "KKK"
b "all of Florida"
c "Fox News"
d "Texans"

A family friend of the student posted a photo of the question, which has since gone viral. She believes the test assigned Nov. 4 was intended to stoke division and generate animosity towards right-wing students by associating the Ku Klux Klan with conservatives, local outlet CBS Sacramento reported.

"I do believe that the intent of the questions on the test were to ridicule students who had conservative beliefs and make them feel bad for feeling that way," Jessica Krissovich, a friend of the student, said of the class assignment.

Krissovich said the teachers can see how upset the parents are and how it spreads through social media. "Hopefully, they will leave their politics at home," she stated.

The student's family declined to speak to the media on camera out of fear that the child could be further targeted, according to CBS Sacramento.

Whitney High School principal Justin Cutts issued a statement the following day, saying that "Whitney High and Rocklin United is committed to providing each student, family, and staff with a safe and welcoming environment."

"As always, Whitney High School is commited to investigate any campus incidents that may make a group of students feel uncomfortable so the Wildcat family can grow from them as we continue to become a strong family through shared experiences," Cutts wrote in the Nov. 5 letter sent to staff, students, and families.

"While personnel matters will remain confidential, appropriate disciplinary steps will be taken," the high school principal added in the statement, also promising that school administration is conducting "a thorough investigation" into the matter following outrage from the WHS community's parents.

One parent told FOX40 that the one-sided political comments are an ongoing concern with the social science teacher in question, noting that the educator has made statements, which are mostly directed against the Republican Party.

"The question on the test is really blatant obviously and that's out there," they said. "This has been the first time it has been looked at of him crossing the line."
