Canada and the United States have agreed that the border will remain closed for another month to non-essential travel, according to CTV News.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the additional month means that the current restrictions will continue until June 21.

When Trudeau was asked about any leniency for family members trying to reunite with each other, he said that allowing international travel would make the country “vulnerable” as the outbreaks in other countries are at differing stages.

Canada and the US had previously made an agreement on an extension last month which finishes on May 21.

The agreement still allows trade and commerce along with vital healthcare workers like nurses living and working on separate sides of the border.
