Canada Post has opted to not deliver mail to a second apartment complex due to tenants refusing to wear masks.
Residents at the West Lodge apartment in Parkdale received notice that they would have to pick up their mail from the Canada Post building—a two hour walk or 15 minute drive away—until the situation is deemed safe for Canada Post employees.
"It has been brought to our attention, when delivering to your building, our Delivery Agent is unable to maintain proper physical distancing with tenants who are not wearing a face covering as required by the municipality," Canada Post wrote to residents in a notice.
"Please wear your mask and keep your distance. We do not want your service to be impacted, but we are wholly committed to protecting the health and safety of our employees and the communities we proudly serve," Canada Post wrote.
Toronto Mayor John Tory said last month that the city would "drill down" those residential complexes who do not comply with municipal rules.
Canada Post has previously suspended deliveries to one other apartment complex—a decision which was reversed after negotiations with the building's managers.
