China is sending almost 500,000 Tibetans into "labour camps," similar to those found in the western Xinjiang region.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, evidence suggests the Chinese government now has a large-scale mandatory "vocational training" program in Tibet, pushing more than 500,000 rural labourers into recently built military-style training centres. This happened in just the first seven months of the year, and more is expected.
This shocking evidence comes from German anthropologist Dr. Adrian Zenz, the same expert who uncovered the horrific treatment of Uighurs in Xinjiang.
Dr. Zenz's evidence exposed the enforced indoctrination, intrusive surveillance, and harsh punishments that are in store for those who fail to meet labour quotas.
This development is yet another stain on China's terrible human rights record, which includes the active genocide of Uighur Muslims and the crackdown on pro-democracy leaders in Hong Kong.
In Canada, CPC Leader Erin O'Toole is seen as the political leader most willing to be aggressive with regard to addressing Chinese atrocities.
"Every time we refuse to stand up for liberty and our core beliefs and interests as a nation in the face of aggression from the Chinese regime, we legitimize its behaviour and encourage more bad actions. We also show our allies around the world that our commitment to freedom is shallow," stated O'Toole in his National Post op-ed
Beijing, China is set to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Given the current oppression of multiple groups in China, as well as the divided strategy on how to address the foreign power, this has and will continue to be a major political talking point for Canadian leaders.
