Residents of Ottawa will be unfortunate enough to have to go through another Valentine's Day, after Ottawa city council unanimously approved a motion to hold the celebration again.

Due to the freedom convoy protests in the city's core throughout much of February, the city decided that it would need another day for lovers to properly celebrate the holiday.

"Our heart-shaped city needs a little love," said Coun. Mathieu Fleury. Fleury said that the city was still "healing" after the "occupation which overran the heart of our city for three weeks." He said that businesses would hopefully be able to recoup potential losses, saying that there was "a significant impact to Ottawa businesses."

"It shows that all of the city, all of the residents regardless of where they live are concerned about what happened in our core and all want to pull together to bring some positivity back to the city, support the businesses," Coun. Keith Egli said according to CTV News.

On actual Valentine's Day, protesters were seen with roses giving flowers away to police, and thanking them for their service. This was nearly a week before police would begin to crack down on protests.
