Starbucks is giving free coffee to all first responders amid pandemic

Coffee chains such as Starbucks are now offering free coffee to first responders and frontline workers dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coffee chains such as Starbucks, McDonald's and Tim Hortons are now offering free coffee across the country to first responders and front line workers dealing with the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The movement was perhaps spearheaded by Canada's most famous coffee chain, Tim Hortons, who began driving coffee trucks around to give out free coffee at hospitals and to communities in need.

The Starbucks Foundation will additionally donate $500,000 to organizations that deliver medical items such as personal protective equipment.

Starbucks in the U.S. will be giving a free tall brewed coffee to anyone who comes in and identifies as a first responder or healthcare worker from now until May 3.

Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, doctors, nurses, hospital and medical staff and medical researchers are all eligible for the the free cup of joe.

Starbucks has temporarily closed seating access to its stores and has reduced services to drive-thru and delivery only and

As for their employees, they will be receiving pay for the next 30 days, whether they come into work or not.
