After a clerical worker at Coke Canada tested positive for coronavirus, the company announced that it will be temporarily halting some of its production as well and disinfecting parts of the Brampton-based bottling plant.

Nicola Krishna, a spokesperson for Coke Canada Bottling noted that one of its office employees tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. The employee worked at the plant on 15 Westcreek Boulevard according to CTV News.

“The employee is receiving appropriate medical care and is in recovery,” said Krishna. “Upon learning of the suspected case, our Human Resources Department worked swiftly to identify potential exposure to others.”

She added that the employee was experiencing symptoms all week and stayed away from the facility.

People who worked closely with the employee are currently working from home.

A thorough cleaning of the facility is being conducted as production is partially halted at the plant.

Krishna noted that the worker did not work close to where the drink is bottled.

“There was no risk identified to our products or in our production or operation facilities,” she said.

Numerous workplace closures have recently been implemented due to coronavirus concerns. An RBC bank tower in Mississauga was evacuated recently, as well as a North York private technical college. Yesterday, an office for a gold mining firm was closed down in downtown Toronto after an employee was infected.
