The Canadian Conservatives are trailing behind the Trudeau Liberals in Canadians' perception of who could better handle the country's financial future.
According to a poll released by Nanos Research Group, while only 33 percent of respondents thought that Trudeau was the best choice, an even less impressive 24 percent chose the Conservatives.
"The Conservatives are traditionally strongest on these measures," pollster Nik Nanos to Bloomberg. "In my experience, if the Conservatives are not seen as being better fiscal stewards than the Liberals, a Conservative win is not in the cards.”
While polls show Canada's prairies prefer the Conservatives, with 35 percent of respondents saying they trusted the Tories with the country's finances, the Liberals held a lead in every other region of the country.
The Nanos poll was a hybrid phone and online survey of 1,016 Canadians, conducted between Feb. 28 and March 4. It’s considered accurate to within 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
