MP Derek Sloan will face a vote from Conservative members of Parliament on whether the Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP will remain a member of the party.
Efforts to purge Sloan from the Tories started on Monday after it was revealed that the MP had accepted a small donation from self-described white nationalist Paul Fromm under a pseudonym. In response to the discovery, party leader Erin O'Toole released a statement explaining that Sloan would be removed from the benches.
In response, Sloan says that the Conservative Party also took funds from Fromm, as the party takes a 10 percent cut from the donation. "It looks like they didn't know who this individual was either?" said Sloan.
"In processing donations, the CPC must confirm the donor in question hasn't went over the yearly maximum. These standards are higher than what any leadership campaign would have had in place in August for verification processes, and raises big questions about what just happened," Sloan continued.
