Counter-protesters showed up in Whitehall, London on Saturday to push back against the violence and mayhem dished out by Antifa, and have been met with a heavy police presence.
Far-left extremists were responsible for much of the street violence last week amid protests over the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer in late May.
On Saturday, police showed up in significant numbers when the counter-protesting patriots came out to protect the Churchill monument, which had been previously defaced by far-left extremists.
Raheem Kassam took to Twitter Saturday, releasing a video of the largely peaceful protest happening, saying: "British protesters chanting “Where the f**k were you last week!?” to police who have suddenly rolled up for patriot counter protesters but who were absent when Communists were defacing Churchill statue etc."

This kind of behavior by those defending the country's most important monuments and memorials stand in stark contrast to the way far-left activists behaved last week, having seriously injured several people, including police officers.
Last weeks 'Peaceful Protest' by BLM/Antifa anarchists....notice a marked change by the lefty loving met police. pic.twitter.com/yod7eoOheb

Though there is a heavy police presence, the protests have remained largely peaceful, with many standing around, appearing to have a good time.
Criticism has cropped up against the counter-protesters for not sufficiently social distancing, but these same criticisms were suspiciously absent last week when parts of the city were filled with large crowds of protesters and rioters.
Several hundred people are gathered in Parliament Square, here ostensibly to protect monuments and statues from a BLM protest that is no longer happening.

Heavy police presence, but so far peaceful, people mostly just drinking in the sun.

Even veterans have turned up in support of defending important locations that have been defaced and vandalized by Antifa.
Veterans arriving in Whitehall, London to protect the statues & monuments from the animals today. Shame they have to do this cause the Cops won’t. The Metropolitan Police are just as useless as the Seattle PD. Both under leftist Mayors. #KAG2020 #MAGA2020 pic.twitter.com/IisXIdYcG6

But not everything about the counter-protests have remained peaceful. There have been a number of scuffles that have broken out between the police and thugs, who appear to just be looking for a fight.
Things already escalating here on Parliament Square. Bottles and smoke bombs thrown at police. And you can see as a protestor smacks my phone out of my hand as I try to film the scuffles.

And:
Say what you will about the violence erupting in Whitehall, London, but at least none of them are looting the businesses.

Weird. It's almost as if people are unhappy with the way the city's run, not those living there. pic.twitter.com/wGadLq1Zhv

Why the city of London enforced less aggressive policing against Antifa and other extremist groups as it has with the counter-protesters remains unclear.
