Recently elected CPC Leader, Erin O'Toole is rolling out new video ads, focusing on his life and career. This comes during the same week as the Trudeau's throne speech, where he will introduce the Liberal government's vision for Canada.
The first ad was released on Tuesday. Just over one minute long, the ad features O'Toole telling the gripping story of his mother dying from breast cancer when he was a young child. He describes being in shock but also eventually becoming inspired by his hockey coach, who was also an officer. His references"carpe diem" or "seize the day" as a personal motto.
The second one minute ad was released on Wednesday. Here, O'Toole talks about joining the military, describing how being able to follow is also part of leading. O'Toole served in the RCAF for over a decade. He was also the Minister for Veterans Affairs in the Harper Government.
Finally, on Thursday, another ad was released, this one focusing on handling stress in the military. O'Toole says "when you think you lose the submarine, and you got an hour of fuel left, you're managing all these crazy things and the winds are bad...debate in the house is pretty easy compared to that. The only thing worse than that is Twitter."
So far, the ads have received praise with many feeling a greater sense of humanity from the CPC Leader. This was something many critics said the last leadership could not accomplish.
