David Hogg abandons pillow company two months after announcing MyPillow competitor

School shooting survivor turned gun control activist David Hogg announced via Twitter on Sunday that he would be stepping away from Good Pillow, a company he co-founded in February.

"Effective immediately, I have resigned and released all shares, any ownership and any control of Good Pillow LLC," Hogg announced.

According to Hogg, his "activism, schoolwork, and family commitments" mean that he "could not give 100% to being a full time co-founder at Good Pillow."

"The reasons for my departure rest entirely with me and my own personal commitments and I truly wish [co-founder William LeGate] nothing but the best," he continued.

Hogg and LeGate founded Good Pillow in February as a competitor to MyPillow, a popular pillow brand founded by Mike Lindell. Lindell made national headlines following the 2020 presidential election by vigorously promoting unsubstantiated claims of election fraud.

Lindell argued that voting machine manufacturers such as Dominion Voting Systems helped rig the election in favour of Joe Biden. Lindell is now being sued for promoting such claims.

As progressives began a boycott campaign against MyPillow in response to Lindell's election fraud claims, Hogg announced that he would be founding a more progressive company to compete with Lindell's enterprise.

Lindell expressed support for Hogg's endeavour. "Good for them," Lindell told Axios. "Nothing wrong with competition that does not infringe on someone's patent."

Good Pillow is yet to sell any pillows, with the company insisting that pre-sales will begin "very soon." The company expects to start shipping pillows to potential buyers in July.
