The House Democrats’ retreat, hosted by Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chair Sean Patrick Maloney, will reportedly feature a Wednesday night performance by drag queen Lady Bunny. Lady Bunny has previously blasted Rep. Eric Swalwell on social media for his COVID-19 commentary as well as called Biden a senile liar.
According to the Politico Playbook, Wednesday evening’s reception will include "musical entertainment" from Lady Bunny, whose shows are reportedly "known for rejecting political correctness."
In December of 2021, the drag queen called out Swalwell on Twitter for saying that unvaccinated people should be banned from flying.
I'm vaccinated and boosted. But are you not aware that vaccinated people can also transmit and get COVID? So you're essentially saying "No one should fly." PS: Here's a pic of you wearing the least effective kind of mask. Maybe YOU shouldn't be on planes... pic.twitter.com/boTv8RYsCP

In a February 2022 tweet, Lady Bunny suggested that President Joe Biden is "senile" and a "liar."
Wow. If Dems go this route, they are begging to lose. What will the slogan be? "We know Joe's a corporate hawk and a liar. But unlike Biden, Hillary's not senile!" pic.twitter.com/NOnzsHxesR

Though the drag star states in his Twitter bio that he is a "staunch progressive," a number of Lady Bunny’s posts question the government’s handling of the pandemic.
In response to the announcement of Lady Bunny’s performance, a number of Republican lawmakers chimed in, noting the timing of the retreat falls as Congress must pass a government funding bill to avoid a shutdown.
"This is actually quite illuminating on a day where we have to pass a bill to find out what’s in it," Rep. Chip Roy told The Daily Wire, referring to the massive omnibus spending bill, the text of which was released very early Wednesday morning.
"Pelosi & House Democrats are rushing through a vote today on a massive $1.5 trillion omnibus spending package b/c they have a previously scheduled retreat in Philadelphia this evening—featuring some interesting “entertainment,'" tweeted Rep. Mike Johnson. "You can’t make this stuff up."

"Democrats are headed to a 3 day 'issues' retreat in Philadelphia," tweeted Rep. Jim Banks. "What’s not on the agenda? Any mention of gas prices or the crime crisis. What is? A discussion on 'Art and Activism,' a panel with liberal union leaders, and a drag queen performance."

Also making appearances at the retreat to give addresses will be President Joe Biden, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, and top White House climate advisor Gina McCarthy.
