Detroit police search for suspect in 4 separate 'random' shootings

The Detroit Police Department is looking for a suspect in four separate shootings that occurred early Sunday morning.

According to police Chief James White, a 44-year-old woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds at 4:45 am in the area around Wyoming and Margareta avenues, reported Click on Detroit.

While officers were investigating that shooting, a witness found a 28-year-old man who had also been shot multiple times near the intersection of 7 Mile Road and Wyoming Avenue, not far from where the first victim was shot.

At around 6:50 am, another woman in her 40s was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 19700 block of Livernois Avenue, which is only about 1.5 miles away from where the younger man was found shot. At 7:10 am, another man was shot one time when he confronted the suspect after seeing him peer into vehicles, according to Click on Detroit.

According to Chief White, one of the victims was shot while waiting for a bus, another was walking his dog, and another was on the street. They were all injured, but shockingly, none of the victims were robbed.

The suspect is believed to be just one man who had a single weapon, and was wearing all black, including what appeared to be a black Carhartt brand jacket, said police.

The suspect is "believed to be 5'8" tall and in his mid-to-late 20s or early 30s. Detroit police are reportedly working with Michigan State Police, the ATF, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security to find and apprehend the suspect.

Police believe the acts to be random because of the seemingly unrelated nature of the targets and the lack of theft from the victims. The last time the suspect was seen was at 9 am in the area around Livernois Avenue and 7 Mile Road.
