Disgraced RINO Liz Cheney to teach at UVA after losing congressional seat

On Wednesday, the University of Virginia announced that former Republican Wyoming congresswoman Liz Cheney would be joining its faculty to teach at the Center of Politics.

Cheney, who failed to hold on to her seat in the House of Representatives during November's midterm election, will serve as a Professor of Practice until the end of the Fall 2023 semester, with the potential for an extension thereafter. 

"I am delighted to be joining the UVA Center for Politics as a Professor of Practice," Cheney wrote in a statement. "Preserving our constitutional republic is the most important work of our time, and our nation’s young people will play a crucial role in this effort."

Cheney went on warn that, "there are many threats facing our system of government," adding that she looked forward to working with UVA staff and students to "improve the health of democracy here and around the world."

During her tenure, Cheney is set to deliver university-wide lectures, serve as a guest lecturer in various courses, contribute to research, and take part in community events.

The school referred to Cheney as "a strong conservative who never hesitates to put honesty ahead of all other considerations," suggesting the January 6 Select Committee member had "fiercely defended democracy as part of a distinguished career."

While Cheney rose through the ranks of the Republican Party during her time in government, in recent years she has been criticized by many of her fellow congress members as a "RINO," largely over her outspoken views on Donald Trump and her role in the January 6 Select Committee.

Last year, it was revealed that during her time in Congress, Cheney's net worth ballooned by 600 percent, jumping from $7 million to $44 million. One of Cheney's assets is her husband's firm, Latham & Watkins, which has ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
