The office of New York Attorney General Letitia James has issued subpoenas for Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, in the course of a civil action against the Trump Organization.
The court document, which was filed on Monday, claims the subpoenas were issued "in connection with an investigation into the valuation of properties owned or controlled."
Eric Trump had already been served with his own subpoena in late 2021 and provided testimony to the AG, according to The Hill.
Donald Jr. and Ivanka have expressed reluctance to comply with the subpoenas. "A dispute has arisen between the OAG and the Individual Trump Parties regarding the Subpoenas," further reads the court document.
Trump and the Trump Organization have also counter-sued James and her office, alleging that the continued investigation into their business dealings is not founded on evidence, but, rather, is politically oriented.
The investigation into Trump, launched by the AG on Dec. 9 2021, has to do with alleged manipulation of the valuations of his many real estate properties within the state of New York, and the use of those valuations to obtain loans against the value of the property.
The current subpoenas require the three parties to appear and depose themselves on or before Jan. 7 2022. This deadline is also being formally challenged by the Trump legal team.
Donald Jr. has previously spoken out about what he called a "political persecution," specifically referring to a separate case mounted against the organization's CFO, Allen Weisselberg.
Trump's legal team has pointed to statements made publicly by James showing a clear bias against Trump before she was even elected to the position of Attorney General.
