On Saturday, former President Donald Trump delivered the closing speech at CPAC and told the crowd that "We will become masters at ballot harvesting," as he promised to put America first again and win in the struggle against "The sinister forces trying to kill America."

"We will become masters at ballot harvesting," Trump said. "We have to beat the Democrats at their own game, and we'll do it legally. The agenda I've laid out today will end America's destruction."

Trump announced he was embracing ballot harvesting in February and said in a fundraising email, "The radical Democrats have used ballot harvesting to cancel out YOUR vote and walk away with elections that they NEVER should have won. But I'm doing something HUGE to fight back."

Trump's staff have examined techniques related to ballot harvesting and looking into state laws on mail-in and absentee voting.

"Our path forward is to MASTER the Democrats' own game of harvesting ballots in every state we can. But that also means we need to start laying the foundation for victory RIGHT NOW," Trump added in the email.

In the wake of the Covid pandemic, the practice of mail-in and early voting as well as the use of drop boxes became more common. After 2020, those practices received scrutiny as some states, including Florida and Wisconsin, alleged they created an environment rife with fraud or potential fraud, especially from the practice of ballot harvesting

Ballot harvesting occurs when a person, usually with a political affiliation, collects or "harvest" absentee ballots en masse from voters at their homes and then drops them off.

In December, Trump told Breitbart News that Republicans had to "live with the system that stinks" and "a mail-in ballot will always be corrupt."

“We simply have to beat them at this,” said Arizona GOP candidate Blake Masters who lost in a close race this past November.

Speaking at CPAC on Saturday, Trump said "If those opposing us succeed our once beautiful USA will be a failed country that no one will even recognize, a lawless, open borders, crime ridden, filthy communist nightmare. That's where it's going."

"We're a nation in decline. Our enemies are desperate to stop us because they know that we are the only ones who can stop them," he added.
