Ontario Premier Doug Ford is in isolation after coming into contact with a staffer who tested positive for COVID-19, a statement from his office says.
The statement says that Ford left the legislature building as soon as he had heard that there was even the risk of exposure to the virus.
"While his test results results have returned negative, the Premier will follow all public health advice for close contacts of positive cases, including isolating. He will do so in Toronto.
"Members of Premier's Office staff who were close contacts of the individual who tested positive will also isolate."
The statement says that Ford will continue "leading this government's response to COVID-19" while isolating from his Toronto home.
Premier Ford was vaccinated on April 9, but has not received a second dose to achieve heighten immunity. The CDC states that immunity is built after two weeks of vaccination.
