Children this morning are waking up the good news that Santa will be coming by to give presents, and not COVID-19 this year, as he visits homes across the world on Christmas nights.
The New York Post reported that Dr. Anthony Fauci told USA Today that “Santa is exempt from this because Santa, of all the good qualities, has a lot of good innate immunity.”
Santa Claus, a 1,750-year-old man, would have been at high risk of contracting COVID-19 due to his global travel if he were not immune. His old age would have also increased his chance of being hospitalized, or perhaps worst.
However, this global health crisis caused by a virus that originated from China will not stop Santa from bringing joy to kids all over the world. “Santa is not going to be spreading any infections to anybody,” added Dr. Fauci.
Dr. Peter Hotez, dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, added that Santa’s little helpers have been “warding off the virus in the North Pole.”
