The sole survivor of a multi-vehicle crash that killed a 37-year-old mother and her three young daughters has been charged today, according to Global News.

The Ministry of the Attorney General confirmed that Brady Robertson, the 20-year-old who was driving the a blue Infiniti that slammed into a Volkswagen SUV, has been charged with four counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death. All four of the occupants of the SUV were killed.

Mother Karolina Ciasullo died at the scene at the accident, while her young daughters Klara, aged 6, Lilianna, just 4, and Mila, only 9 months old, died in later at the hospital. The family is from Caledon, Ontario.

The accident occurred on Thursday in the early afternoon in Brampton, Ontario. A Peel police officer had "observed" a blue Infiniti coupe driving eastbound on Countryside Drive when it t-boned the SUV. The collision caused the SUV to careen into a light pole, which then came down on top of the vehicle.

Ciasullo was an elementary school teacher with the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board.

The funeral was held today at Brampton's St. Eugene de Mazenod church, and while public is not permitted due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, the service was live streamed.

According to court records, Brady Robertson was charged with four counts of dangerous operation causing death under Section 320.13 (3) of the criminal code. Robertson is scheduled to appear in court again on July 23. The maximum sentence for these charges is life in prison.

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the events that led up to the crash. Monic Hudon, a spokeswoman for the SIU would neither confirm nor deny whether or not a police chase was underway prior to the crash taking place, nor what events transpired exactly leading up to the accident.

A GoFundMe page has been launched to help raise money for the Ciasullo family.
