In an absolutely shocking act of inhumanity, Ottawa native Sue Breen’s E-bike was stolen from her. Breen has suffered from childhood sexual assault, and mustered strength to overcome years of addiction and alcohol abuse. Currently, she is diligently fighting cancer (specifically, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for which she was diagnosed 6 years ago).
Sue Breen was featured on CTV Ottawa almost 2 years ago for helping save the lives of more than 500 animals. She described it as a way of “healing herself” in the process.
As a cancer fighter, the E-bike helped Breen get to her appointments and work, said her brother Mark Whitbread. He further praised her bravery for being able to use an E-bike during such troubling times. When Breen discovered her bike was stolen from her South Glebe home between the hours of 11:45pm and 2:00am, she was devastated to say the least.
“I'm devastated, that bike is my life. It is my transportation to and from work and to appointments,” said Breen.
Breen also emphasized how much the bike meant to her. “It's my freedom, it lets me go anywhere in the city I need to get to. I never ever buy myself anything and I just needed something that made me feel like I had something to fight for,” said Breen.
Breen is now faced with another battle. She has been diligently trying to find her bike, and has even released the following statement along with a graphic:
“Put it back under the balcony where you found it, no questions asked; I don’t care. Just bring it back, it means something to me.”
