In the midst of massive voter security concerns in the United States and repeated attacks on Dominion Voting Systems for allegedly rigging key states for Joe Biden, Elections Canada sent out a tweet that reassured Canadians they count by hand.
Dominion is not used in Canada's federal elections although they have provided optical scan paper ballot tabulation systems for almost 150 municipal elections across the country and provincial elections in Ontario and New Brunswick.
In 2014, there were issues in the provincial election in New Brunswick with the machines. At the time, founding VP of Dominion, James Hoover, told the Globe and Mail the problem was caused by a "computer program configured to expedite the release of results to media servers and to the website of Elections New Brunswick."
The company also supplies voting systems for Canada's major party leadership elections, including for the Liberal Party of Canada, the Conservative Party of Canada, and the PC Party of Ontario.
Dominion Voting Systems is originally from Toronto, Ontario but has its headquarters in Denver, Colorado. It is one of just three firms providing voting machines in U.S. elections.
