CPC Leader Erin O'Toole says he is "disturbed" by the recent Netflix release, "Cuties". There has been widespread controversy surrounding Netflix's new debut as the French coming-of-age film has been criticized for depicting hyper-sexualized imagery of eleven-year-old girls. Following the release of the movie poster, Netflix was subject to a massive #CancelNetflix campaign.
Netflix apologized for the poster, and attempted to mitigate controversy by praising the film and changing the allegedly inaccurate poster
While many gave Netflix the benefit of the doubt, many were shocked by the film seemingly being worse than originally expected. American Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard was one of the first elected politicians to speak out against the film following its debut.
In Canada, Bob Zimmer, the Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies, spoke out against the film.
The Opposition leader released a statement across social media platforms on Saturday morning.
No other Federal politician has commented on the film at the time of this article being written.
