Two new polls have revealed that the majority of Americans believe that doctors and pharmaceutical companies should be able to be held legally liable for potential harmful side effects that arise from minors taking puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, and are concerned about efforts "to expose children to the transgender movement."
In one poll, conducted by McLaughlin and Associates in partnership with Summit.org, 71 percent of respondents said that they believe "pharmaceutical companies and doctors who promote puberty blockers and cross sex hormones for underage children seeking gender transition should be legally liable for any harmful side effects that arise." 29 percent said they shouldn’t be held liable.
Split by different demographics, respondents across the board agreed that these doctors and companies should be held liable for harm.
72 percent of Republicans said these doctors and companies should be held liable, compared to 59 percent of independents and 45 percent of Democrats. 35 percent of democrats disagreed that they should be held legally liable.
Those over the age of 55 were more likely by a slim margin to say that doctors and companies should be held liable than those under the age of 55, at 63 to 56 percent.
Among Trump voters in 2020, 77 percent said the companies and doctors should be held liable, compared to 45 percent of Biden voters. 35 percent of Biden voters said they shouldn’t be held accountable.
"This poll reflects Americans' growing concerns for what is happening to young kids in the name of transgender ideology. Doctors are routinely prescribing powerful drugs to kids as puberty blockers without FDA approval for such use," said Dr. Jeff Myers, President of Summit.org and co-author of the new eBook Exposing the Gender Lie: How to Protect Children and Teens from the Transgender Industry’s False Ideology.
"In our new book we document how children are being subjected to dangerous risks and lifelong side-effects, all to promote a radical ideology and reap massive profits for the transgender medical industry. These doctors and pharmaceutical companies must be held accountable for harms that are likely to manifest years after treatment," he added.
In a separate poll, once again conducted by McLaughlin and Associates in partnership with Summit.org, 71 percent of respondents said they were somewhat or very "concerned" over "efforts to expose children to the transgender movement using things like drag shows, school curriculum, and social media." 29 percent said they were not concerned.
Democrat respondents were more likely to say they were not concerned over the matter, with 46 percent saying they were not concerned, compared to eight percent of Republicans and 28 percent of independents.
88 percent of Republicans said they were somewhat or very concerned over the matter, compared to 44 percent of Democrats and 60 percent of independents.
"From TV to Tik Tok to drag shows and trans curriculum in schools, our children and grandchildren are being bombarded daily with the transgender ideology. This polling shows that the American public is concerned and angry about this targeting of kids," Myers.
"In our new book we show that the intentional targeting of children with transgender messaging results in serious psychological and physical harm. Thankfully well-reasoned Americans are starting to push back, and this book is designed to equip them with the resources they need to protect their children from this medical and social scandal."
Both polls were conducted between February 17 and February 22 of 1,000 likely general election voters, and each have a margin of error of 3.1 percent.
