A Tanzanian fashion designer based in Houston, Texas has alleged via tweet that Sam Brinton, the nonbinary former Biden administration nuclear official that has been charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing women's suitcases in 2022, stole her luggage back in 2018.

Asya Khamsin claimed that her luggage was lost in 2018 at DCA, or the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport near Washington DC, and that one of the outfits Brinton was depicted in matched a custom-made piece that was in that lost bag.

The outfit was a long red robe that had a floral pattern printed on it, which Brinton was seen wearing.

Another outfit that the designer said was in the lost bag was a long red dress featuring a ruffled back piece, which Brinton was seen wearing at the Trevor Project TrevorLIVE Gala on June 11, 2018 in New York City.

Additionally, the designer noted a red long vest that Brinton was seen wearing in the fall of 2018.

Another Twitter user noted Brinton wearing the designer's clothing in December, writing, "I know a lady complains she lost her bag back in 2018 at Washington DC and saw Sam Brinton wore her clothes she is an African clothing designer, how can she press charges?"

Brinton has been charged with stealing women’s luggage from an airport, with a criminal complaint filed on Oct. 26 in Minnesota state court stating that Brinton, while traveling from Washington, DC, allegedly stole a $2,325 Vera Bradley suitcase from a luggage carousel at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport on Sept. 16.

A felony warrant was also issued for Brinton on the charge of grand larceny with a value between $1,200 and $5,000, for allegedly stealing luggage from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

Brinton has since been fired from his position as deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition at the Department of Energy, and a Minnesota court released Brinton without bail earlier this month.
