A major car crash on the QEW in Burlington has killed two women and injured three other people, local paramedics say.
Multiple vehicles collided on the Brant Street ramp in Burlington Tuesday before 6 am. OPP Constable Kevin Westhead says, "A motor vehicle crossed over from the westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes where there was a significant collision."
According to CP24, that vehicle was a Mitsubishi Lancer, which struck an Acura and Ford pickup, while a fourth car rolled into the ditch.
CP24 also learned from Paramedics that the two women were pronounced dead at the scene. The three other injured people were sent to hospitals, with one to the trauma centre.
Const. Weshead added that the two women's car crossed through the ditch between the two opposite direction lanes. Their vehicle sustained extensive damage.
According to the OPP, four cars were involved in the crash, and the highway will likely remain closed for six to eight hours to allow for an investigation.
Westhead urged anyone with Dashcam footage of the crash to immediately contact the OPP.
