On Friday night, a father was fatally shot while driving with his two sons, ages 8 and 6, in Houston, Texas. According to KPRC 2, Houston Police and Jacinto City Police officers responded to a location near the intersection of the East Freeway Service Rd and Holland Avenue at around 10:40 pm for reports of a shooting.

The man, 29 years of age, was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound to the head. The boys told police that they heard a pop and had initially thought someone threw a rock at the car.

After seeing their father slump over, they steered the car off the freeway and down the service road. After coming to a stop, the two boys got out and flagged down the help of a woman exiting a nearby Chili's Restaurant.

The two boys did not sustain any injuries. Investigators are currently working to determine if the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident or not.

In response to the shooting, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner announced a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of those involved.
