Five people were found dead after a shooting inside an Oshawa home this morning. Three adults and two children in their early teens are believed to be among the deceased, CP24 reports.

Durham Regional Police arrived at a house on Parklane Avenue off of Harmony Road after receiving calls about gunshots just before 1:30 a.m.

"We had multiple units responding from all our divisions, including our tactical support unit," Constable George Tudos told media at the scene.

"We are still waiting for the coroner to attend and hopefully he will give us a little bit more information as to ages and identification of the deceased parties."

When officers arrived they heard what they believed to be gunshots. When they entered the residence, four male bodies were originally found, with a female body being found later.

Another woman who was shot was found alive inside of the home and brought to hospital.

Constable Tudos said the police have reason to believe the suspect is among the deceased.

"We are still waiting to confirm that but there is nothing to suggest that there is any suspect on the loose and right now we can confirm that there are no community safety concerns."

A mysterious white Ford truck with Manitoba plates was found parked on the street, police say they will tow the truck and investigate any connection it may have to the crime.

"Right now it is too early to say its involvement in this case, whether it is related to the suspect or not."

Homicide detectives and officers are waiting until they receive a warrant to re-enter the home for further investigation.

CP24 spoke to neighbours that said the residents were a husband and wife, both teachers, with four children. They had apparently just got home from a cottage trip. "This family has lived here as long as I've lived here, 27 years, and they were very quiet," one neighbour said.

Police can not yet confirm if the victims were the homeowners or visitors.
