New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been plagued by scandals in recent weeks as he faces three accusations of sexual harassment and accusations of corruption by covering up coronavirus deaths in nursing homes.

Many of the media outlets which have since turned on the Governor, however, spent much of the pandemic giving him high praise for his handling of coronavirus in his state.

"Truth versus mendacity," is how one CNN contributor speaking to Brian Stelter described the Governor compared to former President Donald Trump in handling the pandemic. In another discussion with Stelter, Cuomo was described as providing "real leadership." Stelter himself discussed Cuomo's record as a "remarkable show of leadership" and told his audience that he would teach his kids to be like the Governor

On MSNBC, the Governor was described as "honest, direct, [and] brave," while another contributor described him as living in the "actual" reality as opposed to the Trump. Rachel Maddow identified the Governor as a "natural leader," who has "incredible strength."

However, in recent days, the Governor's handling of the pandemic has been subject to intense scrutiny due to the recent revelations, especially after a former aide admitted that the Governor's office had intentionally hid the real death toll in nursing homes in order to avoid it being used as a political weapon against the Democrat Party by then-President Trump.

The criticism has ramped up since Thursday evening when The New York Times revealed that aides actually "rewrote" a report to hide the death toll in nursing homes. The Times also noted that despite claims that the coverup was done to prevent Trump from scoring political points during an election, the suppression of information surrounding nursing home deaths began months in advance of the election.

The true death toll is believed to be roughly 50 percent higher than Cuomo's office admitted.

Alongside the nursing home scandal, the Governor is facing an independent investigation by the state's Attorney General for allegedly sexually harassing multiple women, including former aides.

As the Governor's administration is torn apart by scandals, many politicians from both the Democratic and Republican Party have called upon the Governor to resign.
