Unearthed video shows Justin Trudeau expressing support for failed Liberal candidate Julie Bourgeois in 2011.

Bourgeois, now a judge, just denied Tamara Lich bail.

"Her vision, her authenticity, her strength is going to be an amazing asset. Both for the people of Glengary-Prescott-Russell but also to everyone in the House of Commons after the next elections when I will have, hopefully, the honor of sitting beside her in the house," said Trudeau in the video.

That hope would never come to fruition, as Bourgeois would eventually lose in the riding to Pierre Lemieux of the Conservative Party, by over 11,000 votes.

On Tuesday, Judge Bourgeois told Lich: "There is a substantial risk you will continue these actions and will not abide by an order... Your recent history in our city … satisfies me that you're detention is necessary for the safety and protection of the public."

Trudeau won the leadership of the Liberal Party in April 2013.
