"Hamas is a terrorist group. They are at fault on this. Israel has every right to defend itself against Hamas."

Ron DeSantis signaled out the Hamas terrorists in Palestine as the problem. An important distinction as civilians themselves clash.

In a press conference earlier today President Biden made it clear the position of the United States is that Israel is rightfully acting in self-defense. This in spite of the $235 million in aid to Palestine the Biden administration announced last month, and the US refusal to approve a UN Security Council statement meant to de-escalate tensions.

However, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had these remarks in the midst of conflict between Israel and Palestine.

“I have friends over there who've been having to hide out in bomb shelters overnight, because of Hamas. Which is a terrorist group raining down rockets on civilians, and make no mistake: Hamas is a terrorist group. They are at fault on this. Israel has every right to defend itself against Hamas. And I think if you look at what’s going on here, really isn’t so much about Israel, as it’s about Hamas trying to stake a claim, to be the leader, of the entire Palestinian authority. They kind of have their little place down in Gaza where they foment a lot of terrorism. They’ve had a lot of problems going on with the Palestinian authority. I think this is Hamas’ attempt to capitalize on that. But our ally Israel has a right to defend themselves, and what’s going on by Hamas is an absolute disgrace.”

It is a situation that IDF veteran and Israeli actress Gal Gadot called for peace in resolving. On an international scale as it’s not just the government of the United States beholden to respond about.

Nor is the Israel vs. Palestine battle contained in just those countries, warring groups of protesters took to the streets in New York City on Tuesday for demonstrations over the matter. Anti-Israel protesters beat up a Jewish man until he was left bloody.

What the Florida Governor said is much more clear than the statements made by Bernie Sanders, who blamed the actions of “government-allied right-wing extremists in Jerusalem” for the ongoing battle. Meanwhile Rashida Tlaib of “The Squad” outright accused Israel of ethnic cleansing for their actions against Hamas.
