During today's coronavirus update Ford briefly addressed the controversy surrounding the visit he made to his cottage.

He also announced new updates regarding the reopening of Ontario's economy, which he said will begin today starting with garden centres and nurseries. He added that on Monday thousands of people will be going back to work.

When addressing the cottage incident, Ford said he was told by his team that he had Easter morning off for the first time in about two months. He added that a couple years ago, burst pipes at the cottage caused a large mess and thousands of dollars of damage and he went to check on it for this reason.

“I woke up early in the morning—5:30—and then I just got ready and hopped in the pick-up truck myself at 6:30 in the morning and I got there and made sure everything was ok—and it was and I literally hopped back in my truck and drove right back. I was back by noon.”
